Talent Cultivation is one of the main endeavors that Ming Chi University work on, the university expresses its concerns about regional urban development in Xinchunag and Taishan area with humanity education. This project is an expansion of preceding three phases, with collection of 4,157 questionnaires and interviews, we come out with regional key demands: first, regional cultural sites: with urbanization and evolution, the area is facing an important gap between development and traditional techniques and memories, thus we intend to concentrate on cultural awareness, work on educational strategies of cultural themes connections. Second, Action on environment: Urbanization incites significant impacts and opportunities to the environment, the university has to play its role in environmental education and actions, caring for environmental evolution and urban development. Third, migrant workers: the university maintains a mutual cooperation with governmental and industrial entities as to assist migrant workers of the industries for their long term career development and trainings. Fourth, helping new residents: the university provides a communication path for those families in need, connects mother tongue languages instructors, assists in social supports to new resident families.
To solve these regional problems, the university work on implementing new curriculum, integrate resources from governmental and private entities, as well as local associations to result in three strategies: first, built a systematic and thematic curriculum, encourage USR related class models to incite students and professors to participate in social leanings. Second, reinforce social connections, we improvise resources from 7 governmental entities and 3 enterprises, enhancing our strength to sustainable development. Third, cross-university cooperation, with 18 universities and NGOs, we look forward into expanding our impact and outcomes on Northern Taiwan cultural themed centers.
